5th Grade Outdoor Education

Extracurricular Activities

Hello Fifth Grade families,

We are excited to share with you a new opportunity for our fifth grade students this year! Students in fifth grade at all 16 elementary schools in the Issaquah School District will attend an Extended Day Outdoor School Camp experience this April at Camp Waskowitz.  Specific details including the date for our school will follow, but we know that this will be a day filled with community building, learning and FUN!

Camp Waskowitz has hosted outdoor education programs since 1947, and they currently serve nearly 2,500 students per year. Students will arrive at Camp Waskowitz in North Bend at approximately 10:00 a.m. on their assigned camp date and depart the camp around 7:00 p.m. Transportation to and from our school will be included in the trip. The day's activities will include hiking, learning about different environmental education topics, relationship building, lunch on the trails, dinner in the dining hall, and, of course, a campfire and dancing!

We understand the extended day experience will be new for many of our fifth graders. We are committed to making this a valuable learning experience and a memorable day for all students to help celebrate the culmination of their fifth grade year.

As school communities, we are looking forward to this common experience for all of our fifth graders, and cannot wait to hear the stories students come back and share.

Please keep your eyes open for more details including ways you can support and be involved with this experience.

We appreciate your partnership on this exciting new adventure!

Thank you,

Jennifer Kessler and the ISD Elementary Principal Team
