Why Attendance Matters

General Announcement

Why Attendance Matters:

One of our continuous goals is to increase our attendance rates. When our students are here, they learn and grow, thrive, form social connections, and so much more. We love seeing them each and every day. We also know that students get sick or there are appointments to attend to, so please communicate in advance when these situations occur. We are here to support your family along the way.

Being at school and on time each day helps students in many ways. Students have more access to their education, make strong connections with peers, and create a consistent routine for their days. If a student is 5 minutes late 3 days per week, this is 540 minutes of school missed, which equates to 9 hours of learning gone! This could be 27 recesses missed, 27 lunches missed, 54 math warmups or exit tickets, 54 writing conferences with their teacher missed, etc.

When to bring your child to school:

  • Scratchy throat

  • Headache

  • Minor stomachache

  • Before/after appointments

Some reasons when to keep your child home:

  • Vomiting

  • Fever

  • Diarrhea
